The Cape Coral Police Department Investigative Services Bureau is responsible for long-term, in depth, under-cover, or technical investigations of criminal activity occurring within our city.  The Investigative Services Bureau is commanded by a Captain who oversees 5 units, each headed-up by a Sergeant and a 6th unit of civilian Crime Analysts. Our Investigative Services Bureau is comprised of the following units:

  • Major Crimes Unit

  • Property Crimes

  • Vice-Intelligence-Narcotics

  • Economic Crimes

  • Street Crimes
  • Crime Analysis

The Cape Coral Police Department also has a state of the art Forensics Section which is a leader in the state of Florida in both technology and techniques.  The Forensics Laboratory is housed at the Cape Coral Police Department and allows us to process items of evidence quickly and thoroughly, helping to ensure the detection of and successful prosecution of criminal offenders.

In a city the size of Cape Coral with all of the diverse and challenging locations where crime scenes can occur, our Forensics section also maintains a Mobile Crime Lab allowing our Forensic Technicians the ability to bring the lab to the field, when time is of the essence or conditions require the processing to take place at the scene.
