The Cape Coral Police Department offers vacation house checks as a complimentary service to the citizens of Cape Coral.  Thanks to the dedicated men and women of our Civilian Volunteer Unit, the Cape Coral Police Department is able to conduct periodic checks of your residence while you are out of town, for a period of up to 30 days per calendar year (Requests must be submitted 2 working days prior to your departure date).

Our uniformed Civilian Volunteers will come out to your house and visually inspect the perimeter of the home, noting what they observe.  If everything is in order, they move on to the next home.  If not, our Communications Bureau is notified and a Police Officer is dispatched to assess the situation and, if necessary, take law enforcement action.  The Officer will then make attempt to make contact with you (so please, provide us good contact information) and advise you of the situation.

This program has been tremendously successful over the years.  It provides the Police Department an extra set of eyes in our neighborhoods to look after vacant homes- an all too common target for burglars.  It also provides you, the homeowner, some extra peace of mind so you can focus on enjoying your vacation, having a successful business trip, or whatever takes you away from home, instead of worrying about how things are back at your house.
