I was wondering how I could do a ride along?

The Cape Coral Police Department has had a long-standing and very successful Ride-Along Program.  Not only do our Citizens' Police Academy members and Police Explorers get to do it, but curious citizens such as yourself as well.

The Ride-Along Program gives you a first-hand look at what the men and women of the Cape Coral Police Department do on a day-to-day basis and lets you see for yourself how the city looks from the front of one of our patrol cars.

Over the years, we have gotten such tremendous feedback from people.  We welcome riders of all ages to come out day or night.  To participate, simply download a Request To Ride With Officer form, fill it out, and bring it to the Police Department.  After successfully completing a background check (We try to avoid giving ride-alongs to would-be super-villains) you will be notified that you have been cleared to ride and you will be given a date/time. This normally takes 1-2 weeks.   If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must give written permission (on the form).

When the day comes for the Ride-Along, we recommend arriving to the Police Department a little bit early and checking in with the desk officer.  This will give us a chance to pair you up with your officer, introduce you around to people, and if possible, give you a quick tour of the building.  Dress comfortably- Dark slacks, t-shirt or polo shirt, and comfortable shoes you can move in.  NO flip-flops, Crocs, open-toed shoes, heels (sorry ladies).  ABSOLUTELY NO WEAPONS!  We have weapons, we don't need you to bring yours.

You can download the form here:  Ride-Along Request Form

We look forward to seeing you out there!
