The Cape Coral Police Department's 43rd Citizen Police Academy Class Is Under Way

On September 12, 2019 the Cape Coral Police Department’s 43rd Citizen Police Academy Class began. The class will learn a variety of police related topics and will be placed in scenarios that Officers face everyday. The Citizen Police Academy is a great opportunity for citizens to learn why Police Officers do what they do. The citizens will be taught the following topics: how to direct traffic, how to interview suspects/victims, what the SWAT team does/when they can be used, how to complete a traffic stop, what to do during shoot/don’t shoot scenarios, learn what the K-9 unit does, how to drive the police pursuit course, how to shoot gun and many more topics. The relationships that are developed during this academy can last a lifetime. This is a ten week program that meets on Thursday evenings from 6:30 pm-9:30 pm in the Cape Coral Police Department training rooms. Tactical Driving is conducted off-site and during daylight hours on a Saturday. The program is free of charge. It is open to Cape Coral residents age 20 and older. If you are interested in attending the Citizen Police Academy you can contact Anella “Joy” Nyack at (239)242-3342.
