Command Staff

The Command Staff of the Cape Coral Police Department bring a wealth of experience to the agency’s leadership team. With a combined total experience of over 200 years, and careers spanning every aspect of law enforcement, the agency is in good hands.

Anthony Sizemore, Chief of Police

Chief Anthony Sizemore has been with the Cape Coral Police Department since 1998. Throughout his career with CCPD, he has worked his way up through the ranks, starting as a Patrol Officer on the street, and was ultimately selected as Chief of Police in November of 2020. He serves as the Vice President of the Southwest Florida Police Chiefs Association and is on the Board of Directors for NAMI Southwest Florida (National Alliance for Mental Illness).

Chief Sizemore is a graduate of the Police Executive Research Forum’s prestigious Senior Management Institute for Police and holds a master’s degree from the University of San Diego. He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Police Executive Research Forum, and the Florida Police Chiefs Association. Chief Sizemore is the Executive Director of the Cape Coral Police Athletic League and a member of the Knights of Columbus. 

Phil Van Landschoot, Deputy Chief of Police

Deputy Chief Phil Van Landschoot commands the Operations Division and day-to-day operations of the Patrol, Investigative Services, and Special Operations Bureaus. He began his career with the Department in 1998. Since then, he’s worked as a Polygraph Examiner, Motor/Traffic Sergeant, Personnel and Training Sergeant, Detective Sergeant in the Investigative Services Bureau, Patrol Bureau Lieutenant, and Special Operations Bureau Captain. Deputy Chief Van Landschoot earned a Master’s of Science in Law Enforcement and Public Safety Leadership from the University of San Diego, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, Training, and Development from Southern Illinois University. 

Dana Coston, Deputy Chief of Police

Deputy Chief Dana Coston commands the Administration Division, which includes Professional Standards, Communications & Logistics, and Community Services Bureaus. He’s been with the Cape Coral Police Department since January 15th, 2000. He has served in many different roles, including a detective liaison on the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, the Lieutenant that created the department’s Public Affairs Office, and the Captain of the Professional Standards Bureau. Deputy Chief Coston has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and in History from Emory University. Before coming to the Cape Coral Police Department, he was an officer with the Fulton County Police Department from 1997-2000. 

Allan Kolak, Captain, Professional Standards Bureau

Captain Allan Kolak has been with the Cape Coral Police Department since May of 1997. Before working for the department, he was with the Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office as a road deputy for one year. Captain Kolak is currently assigned to the Professional Standards Bureau. He has also been a supervisor in the following: Office of the Chief as the Public Affairs Officer; Patrol Bureau, FTO Coordinator/ Administrator/Manager in the Professional Standards Bureau; Special Operations Bureau of the Cape Coral Police Department as a supervisor in charge of the DUI Unit, Drug Recognition Experts, Traffic Homicide Investigators, and the K-9 unit.

Captain Kolak has also served as a road patrol officer, School Resource Officer, DUI officer, and Traffic Homicide Investigator. 

Jennifer Matlock, Captain, Special Operations Bureau

Captain Jennifer Matlock commands the Special Operations Bureau. She began her career with the Cape Coral Police Department in 1997, and has worked in the Community Services Bureau, Professional Standards Bureau, and the Patrol Bureau. Captain Matlock received her Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and a Master of Science Degree in Abnormal Psychology from International College in Fort Myers, Florida. 

 

Matthew Campion, Captain, Community Services Bureau

Captain Matt Campion has been with the Cape Coral Police Department since October of 2006. He served as a Field Training Officer on Patrol, a Street Crimes Officer, and worked as a Background Detective in the Professional Standards Bureau before he became a sergeant in 2016. He initially supervised Patrol and then became an Intel Sergeant. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2021, and served as a Watch Commander, Administrative Patrol Lieutenant, and most recently, the Community Services Bureau Lieutenant. Captain Campion holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice Management from Union University. 

 

Brand Chenault, Captain, Patrol Bureau

Captain Brand Chenault is the Captain of the Patrol Bureau. He’s been with the department since December of 1994, and has has served in many roles, including a Property Crimes Sergeant, Patrol Sergeant, and was a major asset in the Traffic Unit for many years. He was a proud Marine in the United States military for 8 years. Captain Chenault has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Public Safety Administration.  

Don Donakowski, Captain, Investigative Services Bureau

Captain Don Donakowski started with the Department in July of 2000. In that time, he’s been a Administrative Lieutenant, Field Training Officer Administrator, Assistant SWAT Team Commander, Lieutenant in the Special Operations Bureau, and Captain of the Patrol Bureau. Captain Donakowski has a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University. 

Tazkoma Burgoyne, Commander, Communications & Logistical Support
Bureau

Tazkoma Burgoyne started with the Department as a Telecommunicator in January of 2001 and promoted through the ranks to lead the Bureau. She has her Florida State DOH Certificate and has been the Terminal Agency Coordinator for FCIC/NCIC and Point of Contact for the DAVID system. She also has APCO Police & Fire Communications Instructor certifications.
