The Communications Center is staffed with highly qualified 9-1-1 Operators and Telecommunicators.
The Cape Coral Police Department Communications Center is independently accredited through the Commission for Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and is state certified by the Florida Department of Health.
The Cape Coral Police Department Communications Center handles over 270,000 calls a year, ranging from traffic crashes, medical calls, and missing persons to burglaries, robberies, and homicides.
9-1-1 Operators handle 9-1-1 emergency calls and administrative phones. Telecommunicators also answer phones along with dispatching our Police and Fire department personnel to priority and non-priority calls for service, either via radio or over the MCT (laptop computers). They are the first line of communication for Police Officers and Fire Department personnel.
All reports created by Officers are submitted to the Records Division for processing. Records personnel are kept busy with scanning and inputting all reports into our Records Management System. They assist the public with requests either at the Records Window, over the phone or via correspondence for copies of reports, photos, or videos .
Records personnel also handle media requests, background checks, and check scanning. Records personnel also send validation letters to citizens to validate if their report of stolen or missing items or still active or can be removed from our system.
The Police Department has one full time Quartermaster. The Quartermaster is responsible for measuring, ordering, receiving and issuing all sworn and civilian employees uniforms and equipment.
The Quartermaster is also responsible to keep inventory of all uniforms and equipment issued throughout the department and makes sure serial numbers and asset tags for each item is inventoried and logged in our Records Management System.
The Quartermaster makes sure we have stock of day to day equipment ready for distribution in case of emergency, checks in any and all deliveries that come to the Police Department, and distributes them to the appropriate personnel or department.
Our Quartermaster contacts and works with numerous vendors and their representatives to make sure we have all needed equipment for our personnel.
