Subject: Cape Police Looking for Do The Right Thing Nominees

The Cape Coral Police Department is looking for nominees for its Do The Right Thing program now that school is back in session.

The Cape Coral Police Department initiated the Do The Right Thing Program in Southwest Florida in 1994, and it is still going strong. However we need the public's help recognizing the good deeds of young people.

In years past we've seen young people who have dedicated their time to picking up bags of trash from parks, beaches and neighborhoods, held a yard sale or sold baked goods or lemonade in order to give the proceeds to a worthy cause.

We have also had kids nominated for helping an elderly neighbor with chores without expecting to be paid, or took the time to better their grades which may have been slipping. On occasion a heroic effort comes to light in which a young person acts quickly in an emergency by calling 911 and relaying information or by personally taking control of a bad situation.

Each month of the school year, the Cape Coral Police Department's Do The Right Thing program acknowledges these students for their positive actions. If you know a student (K-12) who attends a Cape Coral school and should be recognized, please find a nomination form online at <> or call 239-242-3342.
