Subject: Cape Coral Police SWAT Team Performs Well in International SWAT Competition

The Cape Coral Police Department participated in the 29th Annual "SWAT Roundup International" in Orlando, FL from November 6-11.

According to event organizers, SWAT Roundup International has evolved into an international showcase for special operations teams from across the United States and Europe. The competition involves 59 SWAT teams from all over the world including teams from Russia, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Bosnia and Kuwait, as well as many teams from across Florida and the United States.

The Cape Coral SWAT team members competed against the best in the world and even with their part-time status, they managed to stay competitive with full time and international teams.

Cape Coral SWAT finished 24th overall, mere seconds separated many teams in this tight field of competitors.

"This achievement is due to our Cape Coral SWAT operators putting full effort, fortitude and determination as well as training on their own time for this and all competitions put before them. I would like to give special recognition to all members of the Cape Coral SWAT team for their efforts during the past year, making them one of the best teams in our state."-Sergeant Carlos Mena, SWAT Team Leader.

"Our guys put in many hours of their own time in preparing for this year competition and their efforts paid off. This was a great job by all, not only to those who competed but also those who provided logistical support as well."-Captain Mike Torregrossa, SWAT Team Commander.
