(earlier release below)

Cape Coral Police Detectives returned to the scene off of Old Burnt Store Road this morning where a body was located by officers last night.

Detectives will be performing a grid search of the area where the body was located. Detectives and Forensic Personnel will be looking for trace evidence.

Detectives are also at the Lee County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy is being performed on the body discovered last night by police. The autopsy is expected to take the entire day to complete. Investigators are hopeful that positive ID will be made by the end of the day; however it may take several days.

The manner of death will not be available until the final report of the autopsy is completed by the Medical Examiner, which will be several days if not weeks.

Details regarding Cape Coral Police Detectives’ interview with Garrett Kern are not being released as well as information about James Arthur’s car. The two Cape Coral Police Detectives that are in Chicago are following up on other leads today and are expected to return to Cape Coral later this evening.

When positive ID of the body is made, be it later today, over the weekend, or next week, the Cape Coral Police Department’s Public Affairs Office will put out a news release.
