Subject: Cape Coral Police in Custody of James Arthur's Car

Cape Coral Police Detectives have taken custody of James Arthur's 2009 Volvo. Detectives put out a nationwide BOLO for the vehicle on Thursday October 27th when James Arthur and Garrett Kern first went missing.

On Friday November 4th in the afternoon, Cape Coral Police Detectives were contacted by the Crisp County Sheriff's Office in Crisp County Georgia. Crisp County Sheriff's Deputies located the car in the parking lot of a dollar store.

Cape Coral Detectives drove to Crisp County Georgia and took custody of the vehicle. It was loaded onto a flatbed truck and driven back to Cape Coral and stored at the Police Department's secure facility.

A search warrant was obtained for the car, and this afternoon Detectives and Forensic Personnel are processing the vehicle for evidence.

The Lee County Medical Examiner's Office has yet to release a manner of death in this case.

Garrett Kern remains in Illinois pending extradition back to Florida. He was arrested in Illinois on a VOP warrant for narcotics charges. Once that issue is resolved, Kern will be brought back to Florida for the Grand Theft Auto arrest warrant.

Kern remains a person of interest in the disappearance of James Arthur. CCPD Detectives and Forensic Personnel continue to work around the clock on this investigation.

The Public Affairs Office will release new details on the investigation as they become available.
