Subject: Cape Coral Police Participate in NHTSA's 'Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over' Campaign

The Cape Coral Police Department is participating in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's 'Drive Sober of Get Pulled Over' campaign for the holiday season. The campaign runs from December 16th thru January 2nd.

The Cape Coral Police Department will be conducting a DUI Saturation Patrol this Friday night (December 16th) from 8pm-2am. This is a roving patrol effort in which members of the department's Special Operations Bureau will be patrolling city-wide to detect impaired drivers and get them off of our streets.

"During these next few weeks many of us will be attending parties and holiday celebrations. We want everyone to enjoy the restaurants, bars and entertainment venues that Cape Coral has to offer and have a great time. We just want everyone to have a plan to get home safely without driving impaired."-Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.

Cape Coral Police Department Captain Michael Torregrossa recommends these simple tips for a safe holiday season:

* Plan a safe way home before the festivities begin; * Before drinking, designate a sober driver and leave your car keys at home;

* If you're impaired, use a taxi, call a sober friend or family member, or use public transportation; * If you happen to see a drunk driver on the road, don't hesitate to contact your local law enforcement; * And remember, Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. If you know someone who is about to drive or ride while impaired, take that person's keys and help him or her make other arrangements to get home safely.
