Subject: CCPD's Annual Shop with a Cop Thursday December 22nd

The 9th annual CCPD Shop with a Cop is set for Thursday December 22nd from 9:30-Noon.

The event begins when a Cape Coral Police Officer picks an individual child up at his or her home. The two will then go to Perkins Restaurant for a delicious breakfast, and then it is off to Walmart for Christmas Shopping.

The Police Officers accompany the children as they shop for members of their families with gift cards provided by Walmart and Capital Bank. The shopping is from 9:30am until 11:00am. The Officers and the kids then head back to Police Headquarters where volunteers help the children wrap their presents. Afterwards, the kids will have a hot lunch provided by Chicago Pizza of Cape Coral. The Officers then bring the children home to place their wrapped gifts under the tree.

This year we will be shopping for 35 Cape Coral Families impacting 178 total family members.

The Officers and kids will be on the north side of Walmart at 9:30am for a group photo, media are welcome to attend the photo session. Media are also welcome to attend the gift wrapping at Police Headquarters where sponsors will be available for interviews. Capital Bank Branch Manager Libby Knight, a key sponsor for this event, will be available at the gift wrapping session. This will be at 11:00am.

"Shop with a Cop is one of the best traditions we have here at the Police Department. We have the opportunity to have a truly positive experience and share quality time with some great kids, who through no fault of their own, are faced with tough times at Christmas. Thanks to our generous sponsors and Officers donating their time, 35 families will get to enjoy a Christmas that they otherwise would not."-Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
