Subject: Suspect in Cape Coral Burglaries Takes Plea- Gets 30 Years in Prison
A suspect in numerous Cape Coral burglaries took a plea today and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. Barry Wayne Burdette 35 of Fort Myers was released from prison in July of 2010 after serving several years for burglary and grand theft.
From July 2010 thru November 2010, Burdette broke into 18 Cape Coral homes and stole property. He also committed numerous burglaries in Lee County as well. Burdette was arrested by LCSO and was in custody on several burglary charges from their agency. Meanwhile, Cape Coral Police Detectives continued to build their cases against Burdette.
Cape Coral Police Detectives gathered evidence in their cases and interviewed Burdette. During the interviews, Burdette confessed to the crimes and detectives were able to charge him in the 18 burglary cases.
Through the cooperation between the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Cape Coral Police Department as well as the State Attorney's Office, a serial burglar will be off of the streets of Southwest Florida for a long time.
