Subject: Cape Coral Police Kickoff the State's "Click-It or Ticket"Program Today

Cape Coral Police Officers will participate once again in Florida'sClick-It or Ticket initiative. The program begins today and runs throughMarch 31st.

The main cause behind the Click It or Ticket campaign is to reduce thenumber of traffic fatalities and serious injuries suffered in motorvehicle crashes with occupants not wearing seatbelts. Officers acrossthe state are trying to get out the message about state law regardingseatbelt usage.

What's different about this year's campaign is the philosophy onenforcement. "Education is our primary goal this year" said CaptainMichael Torregrossa who is overseeing the event.

Educating the public reduces the risk of serious injury and/or deathresulting from unrestrained occupants in traffic crashes.

"Please remember that enforcement includes written warnings, not justcitations. If you observe a violation and choose to give a warning, your actions help educate the public and could possibly save theirlife", said Torregrossa to officers participating in Click-It or Ticket.
