Subject: Cape Coral Police Make Arrest in Overnight Shooting

On March 4th, 2011 at 3:18am, the Cape Coral Police Department receiveda call in reference to a shooting that occurred at 336 NE 10th Street.

According to the victim, he was in his vehicle at 336 NE 10th Street,visiting his girlfriend. The girlfriend went into the residence tocheck on her child when seconds later, the father of the child, RamonMartinez, arrived in a silver car.

The victim stated that Ramon positioned his car in front of his so hewas unable to leave. The victim placed his car in reverse so that hecould maneuver around Martinez' vehicle. As the victim went to driveaway, Martinez exited his vehicle and fired one gunshot at the victimwhich shattered the driver's side window, striking him in the left bicepand then coming to rest in passenger door.

The victim drove away from Martinez and he heard approximately 3 moreshots fired in the direction of his vehicle (2 more bullet holes werelocated in the victim's vehicle upon inspection).

The victim drove to a gas station and called police. He was treatedon-scene for his gunshot wound and released. He told police that hewanted to press charges and identified Ramon Martinez as the shooter.

Officers responded to 336 NE 10th Street to attempt to make contact withMartinez. A perimeter was established around the home and contact wasattempted with Martinez. He exited the residence after a shortnegotiation and he was taken into custody.

"Ramon Martinez is no stranger to the Cape Coral Police Department andhe is no stranger to gun violence. The citizens of Cape Coral are safertoday with him off of our streets".
