Subject: Cape Coral Police Take Down Marijuana Grow-House

On April 11 at 6:30 PM, the Cape Coral Narcotics Detectives followed upon an anonymous tip of a suspected grow house located at 1223 NW 20Terrace. Detectives went to the location, gathered evidence and quicklyobtained probable cause and obtained a search warrant. Patrol Officersand a K-9 Officer from the 3rd Platoon were made aware of the residenceand conducted surveillance. Officers detained 2 males arriving at thehome shortly after midnight.

Detectives were contacted and the search warrant was executed resultingin the seizure of 49 marijuana plants located within the garage andnortheast bedroom. Both rooms had very elaborate irrigation systems toinclude a 100 gallon tank submerged in the garage floor by cutting ofthe concrete slab. (See attached photos) The seized marijuana had anestimated street value of $200,000.

"We are grateful for the citizens' trust in us to take down thesecriminals as evidenced by the tip we received. We are also proud of thequick action taken by our Officers and Detectives to take thesecriminals off of our streets. What a few dismiss as 'just marijuana' isactually a lucrative, high dollar operation. Robberies of drug dealersare particularly dangerous, especially when they are in residentialneighborhoods and other people can be affected. This is one of thereasons why we take swift action against grow-house operations."
