On April 21, 2011 Darien Wright plead out to 15 years in prison to avoid going to trial and risk the chance of a 25 year sentence mandated for being in possession of over 28 grams of an opium derivative.

During a 3 month investigation during the early part of 2010, VIN Unit purchased Oxycodone from Wright on 3 separate occasions utilizing a confidential source and undercover detectives. On April 29th, 2010 at the conclusion of the final buy for a trafficking amount of Oxycodone, Wright was taking into custody without incident. A search of his vehicle revealed a plastic bag containing 20 prescription pill bottles, none of which were in his name. A total of 902 prescription pills were seized, of which 243 were Oxycodone and 290 were Xanax. Wright admitted post Miranda selling the Oxycodone for $10 per pill and the Xanax for $6 per pill.
