Subject: Cape Coral Police Department Hosts Advanced Crisis Intervention Training Class

The Cape Coral Police Department is hosting Advanced Crisis Intervention Training Class in their training facility located at Police Headquarters. The training class, sponsored by the Fort Myers Police Department, is offered to law enforcement personnel who have successfully completed Basic Crisis Intervention Training.

The class covers such topics as:

Co-Occurring Diagnosis

PTSD / Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

New Age Alternative Drugs and their side effects

Lee County Human Resources

And more
Over 100 Law Enforcement Professionals and Mental Health Providers are attending the training class.

“We are proud to host this event and believe strongly in the training. We train our officers how to interact with persons with special needs to provide the best possible service to the community. A lot of attention is placed on police departments after they handle a situation involving a person with mental illness, often the attention is on a lack of training. We are being proactive and training before such an event happens in Cape Coral.” –Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
