Subject: Cape Coral Police Officers Pull Man from Car in Canal

On June 14, 2011 at 10:00am a 1996 White Ford SUV driven by James Brown went into the canal near 3804 Surfside Blvd. Brown, 58 of 5019 Sands Blvd was trapped inside of the SUV as it sank to the bottom of the canal.

A boater called police and reported seeing the vehicle in the canal and that he believed someone was still inside. Officer Thomas Wagner arrived and boarded the caller's vessel and rode to the spot where the sunken SUV was seen.

Seconds later, Officers Dan Frantz, Alex Mino-Ramirez and Brian Gumm arrived and went into the canal to assist Officer Wagner.

The Police Officers were able to extract James Brown from the car and began to administer CPR to him right on the roof of the SUV. Fire/Rescue and EMS arrived and were able to get Brown to shore where Brown was revived. He was brought to Cape Coral Hospital where he remains at this time. His condition is unknown.
