Cape Coral Police Partnering Again with Harry Chapin Food Bank for

‘Holiday Heroes Food Drive’

(November 7, 2012)- The Cape Coral Police Department is partnering with the Harry Chapin Food Bank for the second year in a row for a food drive in time for the holiday season. This year’s campaign is called the ‘Holiday Heroes Food Drive’.

We realize that there are many Cape Coral residents that rely on the Harry Chapin Food Bank for food every day, and the number of families is growing. We also are aware that many of those who receive help from the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Cape Coral are families with children.

Last year before Christmas, the Cape Coral Police Department collected over 2000 pounds of food, OVER 1 TON! We would like to match that total this year or even surpass it. This year’s ‘Holiday Heroes Food Drive’ will be held on November 13th to ensure that the food bank receives plenty of food donations prior to Thanksgiving.

The Cape Coral Police Department will be at the Walmart Supercenter located at 1619 Del Prado Blvd as well as the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 505 SW Pine Island Road (Kohl’s Shopping Center) collecting donations for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. There will be SWAT Team members on hand as well as Police K9 Officers, SWAT vehicles and police cars for display.

Members of the community can meet and greet with those who serve and protect our city. This is a great opportunity for kids to interact with police officers in a positive setting.

“Come out and meet your Cape Coral Police Officers and donate to a great cause. We want you to be a ‘Holiday Hero’ and help out those who are in need in our community”-Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
