Cape Police K9s Receive National Re-Certification

(March 16, 2012)- On March 8th three of the six Cape Coral Police K9 teams received certification through the prestigious National Police Canine Association (NPCA).

Master Corporal Chris Clapp with K9 Dux, Master Corporal Jamie Grey with K9 Daro and Officer Bob Reese with K9 Ben received certifications in Patrol, Criminal Apprehension, Obedience, Tracking and Narcotics Detection.

A certification from such an organization ensures the citizens of Cape Coral that their Police K9 teams are operating in accordance with the highest industry standards.

The three other Cape Coral Police K9 teams are still in compliance with the NPCA. The teams alternate years so that when testing with the NPCA, the entire K9 Unit is not unavailable for deployment.

"We are extremely proud of our K9 Unit for re-certifying with the NPCA. We are not surprised however; the Cape Coral Police K9 Unit is one of the best in the United States"-Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
