Cape Coral Police Department Announces Tweet from the Beat

(March 23, 2012)- The Cape Coral Police Department is happy to announce a fun and exciting addition to its Community Engagement Program- "Tweet from the Beat."

Next week, the Cape Coral Police Department will take you inside the Police Department...and the police car as you "ride along" with a member of the Cape Coral Police Department via Twitter!

Throughout the shift, we will be sharing what an officer sees and does on Twitter via text updates, pictures, and video- "tweeted" live from the field. No editing or scripting.

People following @CapePD on Twitter will be able to ask questions and interact directly with the Officer. This is the next best thing to sitting in the front seat of the police car!

"Tweet from the Beat" is a Twitter exclusive, so if you aren't on Twitter yet, go to and sign up. It only takes a few seconds and it's FREE! Once you sign up, be sure to follow us, our Twitter "handle" is @CapePD.

"The Cape Coral Police Department's "Tweet from the Beat" event is part of our ongoing effort to improve communication and partner with the citizens through our Community Engagement Program. By getting people interested in what we are doing and getting them talking to us on Twitter, we are able to reach a large portion of the population instantly when something happens where we need instant community awareness or involvement."- Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
