Cape Coral Police Light it Up Blue for Autism Awareness
(April 2, 2012)- The Cape Coral Police Department has partnered with Autism Speaks U @ Florida Gulf Coast University to participate in the Autism Speaks "Light it up Blue" campaign.
AutismSpeaks.org designates April 2nd as the kickoff of Autism Awareness Month by inviting businesses, government buildings and private homes to literally light it up blue to shine a light on the neurobiological disorder.
The Cape Coral Police Department chose to participate in the campaign by "lighting up blue" the Protector statue in the front plaza of Police Headquarters.
The idea to participate was that of a Cape Coral Police Officer who attends FGCU and is a founding member of "Autism Speaks U @ FGCU".
"The Cape Coral Police Department is proud to take part in the 'Light it up Blue' event and to raise awareness to Autism. We invite the media as well as our citizens to join us in this effort." -Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.
