Cape Coral Police are seeking assistance from the public In identifying a suspect who attacked an off-duty Charlotte County Sheriff's Corrections Deputy this morning.

At 6:20am, the victim arrived at his residence in the 1200 Block of SW Santa Barbara Place, locked his vehicle and began walking towards the front door. The victim realized that he forgot his cell phone and walked back to his vehicle.

The victim was then confronted by a suspect armed with a pocket knife. The suspect attacked the victim and slashed the victim's forearm. After a brief struggle, the suspect fled northbound on Santa Barbara Place on a bicycle.

The suspect is described as a white male, 5'10 170-180lbs, early 20's, clean cut, wearing a black t-shirt and black pants. He was riding a mountain-bike style bicycle.

The victim drove himself to the hospital where he was treated and released for his injuries.
