Cape Coral Police Hosting Water Safety Seminar

(July 9, 2012)- The Cape Coral Police Department is partnering with the Cape Coral Fire Department and Cape Coral Parks & Rec to host a water safety seminar.

The seminar is this Saturday July 14th from 10am-1pm at the Cape Coral Yacht Club Pool.

The Police and Fire Departments partnered with Parks & Rec to put on a program to spread the word about water safety. Each year our first responders answer emergency calls involving children who have had swimming pool and other water related emergencies.

"This is our way to give back to the community and hopefully prevent a tragedy one day. When we were planning this event, it was only natural that we elicited the assistance of our brothers and sisters at the Fire Department as well as our outstanding employees right here in the Parks & Rec Department. This should be a great free event for our city's young people"-Lieutenant Tony Sizemore.

The event is scheduled to feature:

Ø Local pool fencing/pool alarm companies on site

Ø Sun Safety Station. Sunscreen sample give-a-ways.

Ø Child Water Drowning Prevention Program station

Ø CPR and water rescue demonstrations by lifeguard staff

Ø Appearances by pool Mascot "Sammi the Seahorse"

Ø Life jacket safety demo

Ø Information station - swim lessons, water exercise programs

Ø Fire Dept water rescue demo

Ø Door prizes

No need to RSVP, simply arrive at the Cape Coral Yacht Club Pool at 10am on Saturday July 14th.
