Cape Coral Police Need Your Help Identifying a Suspect in a String of Cigarette Thefts

(October 23, 2013)-  Cape Coral Police Department needs your help identifying a suspect in a string of cigarette thefts.

Over the past couple of weeks, an unknown subject has committed several thefts of cigarettes from several convenience stores in south Cape Coral.

The thefts that have been documented by the Cape Coral Police Department are:

  • 10/14/13, around 0922hrs @ Hess Express, 1020 Santa Barbara Blvd (CR 13-016725)
  • 10/17/13, around 2200hrs @ Seven Eleven, 1608 Skyline Blvd. (CR 13-016502)
  • 10/18/13, around 2048hrs @ Dollar General, 1612 Skyline Blvd. (CR 13-016539)
  • 10/21/13, around 0847hrs @ Seven Eleven, 1608 Skyline Blvd. (CR 13-016656)
  • 10/22/13, around 1040hrs **ATTEMPT ONLY** @ Dollar General, 1612 Skyline Blvd. (Event # 201300171309)
  • 10/22/13, around 1418hrs @ Hess Express, 1020 Santa Barbara Blvd. (CR 13-016724)

A white male enters the store at different hours of the day.  He approaches the counter and asks for carton(s) of cigarettes (either, Marlboro Black 100's, Marlboro Red, or Newport 100's).  The store associate will place the carton(s)/cigarette(s) on the counter, the male will act as if he is waiting to pay with a debit/credit card, then will ask for a single pack of another brand that is on the wall behind the clerk.  When the clerk turns their back to retrieve it, the male grabs the cigarettes and leaves without paying.  He leaves on foot toward the back of the store near the dumpsters, where store personnel lose sight of him.  It is unknown if there is a waiting vehicle or other mode of transportation or if anyone else is involved.

The suspect appears to be a white male between 25-35yrs of age, with short strawberry-blonde/brown short hair, slight beard, approximately 5'6"-6', 150-170lbs, wearing distinctive tennis shoes (possibly Air Jordans, white on top and black on bottom), and thin to lean build.  In other store videos, he's wearing an orangish-red NY baseball hat and flipflops or slides.

Please take a look at the gallery of photos above.  If you have any information on the identity of the suspect, please contact the Cape Coral Police Department at 239-574-3223.
