Cape Coral Police Department Takes Down Additional Grow Houses; 
 
Almost $1 Million Dollars Worth of Pot Seized

(October 31, 2013)-  The Cape Coral Police Department VIN Unit conducted follow-up investigation based on evidence and information collected surrounding Tuesday's grow house bust and arrest, locating and dismantling two additional grow house operations overnight.

The grow houses were located at 1612 NW 8th Place, Cape Coral and 1717 SW 3rd Avenue, Cape Coral.  Cape Coral Police Department VIN, Street Crimes Unit, and SWAT team  served warrants on both locations. Both residences were found to be unoccupied and had been completely converted into high-tech greenhouses for the purpose of cultivating marijuana.   Between the two locations, Cape Coral Police seized over 300 plants weighing almost 900 lbs., with a street value of almost $1 million dollars.

Shortly after midnight, Jair Baluja-Martinez, who was arrested on Tuesday for operating a marijuana grow house operation, was located and re-arrested by Cape Coral Police Detectives at 931 Skyline Boulevard, Cape Coral, FL.  As of the time of this release, Baluja-Martinez is being held without bond at the Lee County Jail.

Arrested:  Jair Baluja-Martinez, H/M, DOB: 05-28-1974. 

Charges:  2 counts- Ownership, lease, rental, or possession for trafficking in or manufacturing a controlled substance (FSS 893.151 (2)), 1 count- Trafficking Marijuana in excess of 25 lbs. (FSS 893.135 (1a)), 2 counts- Marijuana cultivation (FSS 893.13 (1a2)), and 2 counts- Possession of drug paraphernalia (FSS 893.147 (1)).

Cape Coral Police Bust Grow House in North Cape

(October 30, 2013)-  The Cape Coral Police Department Vice, Intelligence, and Narcotics (VIN) Unit took down another marijuana grow house in north Cape Coral on Tuesday.
 
Working in conjunction with the Cape Coral Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU), Cape Coral VIN Detectives obtained and served a search warrant at 2416 NE 22 Place after receiving intelligence that a marijuana grow house operation was at that location.

The investigation yielded a total of 80 marijuana plants, weighing a total of 137 lbs, with a street value in excess of of $100,000.

Arrested:  Jair Baluja-Martinez, H/M, DOB: 05-28-1974. 

Charges:  Ownership, lease, rental, or possession for trafficking in or manufacturing a controlled substance (FSS 893.151 (2)), Trafficking Marijuana in excess of 25 lbs. (FSS 893.135 (1a)), Marijuana cultivation (FSS 893.13 (1a2)), and Possession of drug paraphernalia (FSS 893.147 (1)).
