Cape Coral Police Department Busts Meth Operation; Two Arrested

(November 7, 2013)-  Cape Coral Police Department Vice, Intelligence, and Narcotics (VIN) Detectives, with the assistance of the Cape Coral Police Department Street Crimes Unit (SCU) busted a meth operation in SE Cape Coral yesterday afternoon.

Based on information and intelligence gathered during their investigation, VIN and SCU obtained and served a search warrant at 1201 SE 6th Terrace on November 6, 2013 at around 4:19 PM.

Inside the residence, VIN Detectives located a clandestine methamphetamine lab inside the closet of the master bedroom.  Detectives seized chemicals, equipment, and over 30 ounces of methamphetamine.

Due to the volatile and toxic nature of the chemicals used in production of methamphetamine, a professional hazardous materials disposal company responded to safely remove and dispose of the hazardous waste.

  1. Christopher Travis Kilmer, W/M, DOB: 06-02-1969 of 1201 SE 6th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL.
  2. Shannon Mari Nakashima, W/F, DOB: 12-30-1980 of 1201 SE 6th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL.

Both Kilmer and Nakashima were charged with Production of Methamphetamine (FSS 893.13 1a1))  and Trafficking in Methamphetamine in excess of 14 grams (FSS 893.135 (1f1)). They are currently being held in Lee County Jail.

"Thanks to the hard work of our VIN and SCU Officers, another dangerous meth lab has been taken down and taken out of one of our neighborhoods.   From beginning to end- production to consumption- methamphetamine is one of the most dangerous drugs we encounter.  It destroys the lives and physical well-being of the user, and poses a significant risk to those nearby where it is being illegally manufactured."- Det. Sergeant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer
