Cape Coral Police Make Arrest in DUI Injury Crash

(June 18, 2013)-  On June 17, 2013,  Mary E. Jones was charged with the following:

1)      DUI

2)      DUI with Property Damage

3)      DUI with Personal Injury (2 counts)

4)      DUI with Serious Bodily Injury (3 counts)

5)      Driving While License Suspended with Serious Bodily Injury (3 counts)

6)      Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

7)      Possession of Marijuana Under 20 Grams

8)      Possession of Controlled Substance (2 counts)

Report# 13-000751 On 1-13-13 at 6:05 pm, Jones was driving South on Nott Road and drove off the East edge of the roadway and struck a tree.  During the traffic crash, 3 children suffered serious bodily injury (life threatening) and 2 children suffered minor injuries.  Jones was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital where she was determined to be DUI by controlled substances.  Jones initially denied driving, but while talking with officers, admitted to driving.  Physical evidence on Jones and on the vehicle placed Jones as the driver.  The very next day after the crash, Jones gave on-camera interview with local news media stating that she did not know who was driving.

FDLE blood results (voluntary consent) showed that Jones had 4 different controlled substances in her system.  Jones was also in possession of Oxycodone and Alprazolam.

Mary Jones has also been arrested two other times in the recent past:

April 27, 2013 for DUI and DUI with property Damage (13-006728); June 4, 2013 for Trafficking in controlled substances (13-008961)
