UPDATE: Driver From Weekend Fatality Crash Identified
(November 6, 2013)- As of September 11, 2013, the District Medical Examiners Office has positively identified the driver involved in the traffic fatality from this past Saturday morning. The driver is identified as Patrick Logue, 6-24-57, of Cape Coral.
The next-of-kin has been notified. A traffic homicide investigation is being conducted.
No other information is available other than the original release and this update.
New information will not be available for a few weeks/months as the lengthy traffic homicide investigation is under way.

Cape Coral Police are investigating an overnight traffic crash that resulted in one fatality and one serious injury. Below is the synopsis:
DATE: September 7, 2013
TIME: 12:23 am
LOCATION: 5600 Rose Garden Road
VEHICLE 1: ***Unknown silver/red sports car.
DRIVER 1: ***Unidentified white male.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: The male driver died on scene during the traffic crash.
PASSENGER 1: Susan Reynolds, W/F, 9-9-84, 2903 52nd Street West, Lehigh Acres, Florida 33972.
PASSENGER 1 INJURIES: Reynolds suffered life threatening injuries in the traffic crash.
SYNOPSIS: Vehicle 1 was traveling North on Rose Garden Road and lost control while the roadway curved. Vehicle 1 rotated counter clockwise and drove into the median where Vehicle 1 struck a tree directly into the rear of the vehicle. Due to the impact, vehicle 1 caught on fire. The driver of vehicle 1 was unable to exit the vehicle and was pronounced dead on scene. The female passenger was removed from the vehicle by people nearby and rushed to Lee Memorial Hospital.
The passenger of Vehicle 1 suffered life threatening injuries with burns over more than 65% of her body and was trauma alerted to Tampa General Hospital. The driver of Vehicle 1 and Vehicle 1 are unidentifiable at this time. The Medical Examiner’s Office responded and removed the driver of Vehicle 1 and will be performing an autopsy to assist with identification.
It may take days or even weeks to positively identify the driver of Vehicle 1.
It is unknown if alcohol/drugs were involved in this traffic crash.
