Cape Coral Police Work Serious Injury Crash Overnight
(January 10, 2014)- Cape Coral Police Department responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 2400 block of Diplomat Parkway East at around 2:30 AM. The driver, and sole occupant of the car, Keith Bradley Knicely (W/M, 6/11/88) of 323 NE 42 Terrace, Cape Coral, Florida 33909, lost control while navigating a curve in the road as he was driving westbound into the city. The vehicle crossed the median and the oncoming lanes of travel, leaving the road and striking a tree head-on. The driver, Knicely, sustained multiple life-threatening inures as a result of this crash, and was trauma-alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital. Alcohol and/or drugs are a factor in the crash. Knicely was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

DRIVER 1: Keith Bradley Knicely, W/M, 6/11/88, 323 NE 42 Terrace, Cape Coral, Florida 33909.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Knicely suffered life threatening injuries in the traffic crash and was trauma altered to Lee Memorial Hospital.
Vehicle 1, a car, was westbound on Diplomat Pkwy at that the 2400 block, negotiating a right curve in the road, near the V.A. Hospital. While Vehicle 1 was negotiating the curve, the driver lost control of Vehicle 1 and struck the curb on the North side of the road. Vehicle 1 then drove onto the side walk. Vehicle 1 continued westbound on the sidewalk, eventually leaving it and crossing the entrance to the Veterans Hospital. Vehicle 1 then drove back onto the sidewalk again and continued westbound. Vehicle 1 then veered left, leaving the sidewalk and crossing all westbound lanes of Diplomat Pkwy. Vehicle 1 then crossed the median and continued to veer left, crossing all of the eastbound lanes of Diplomat. Vehicle 1 then stuck the curb on the South side of the roadway at which time Vehicle 1 struck a tree with the front end and came to its final rest.
The driver of Vehicle 1 suffered multiple life threatening injuries and was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital by ambulance. The driver of Vehicle 1 is in surgery at Lee Memorial Hospital with multiple critical injuries, but is now expected to recover.
It was determined that the driver of Vehicle 1 WAS NOT wearing a seatbelt at the time of the traffic crash. Alcohol/drugs ARE a factor in the traffic crash. MCI Officers Green and Satterlee responded, as well as Forensics Lansky and VA Seymour.
