(November 15, 2014)-  Cape Coral Police are currently investigating a single-vehicle crash that left the motorcyclist in critical condition.

Shortly before 5:00 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to the intersection of Del Prado Boulevard Diplomat Parkway in reference to a traffic crash involving a motorcycle.

Investigation revealed that the motorcyclist struck the median and was ejected from his motorcycle. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Cape Coral Police Department Major Crash Investigator as well as Forensics personnel responded due to the severity of the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist.

The initial synopsis of the Major Crash Investigator is below:

VEHICLE 1 (V-1): Black 2007 Honda motorcycle.
DRIVER 1 (D-1): Paul Stevens Astromovich, W/M, 2-15-58, of Cape Coral, Florida 33990.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Astromovich suffered life threatening injuries in the traffic crash.

SYNOPSIS:  V-1 was East on Diplomat Parkway approaching the intersection of Del Prado Boulevard in the inside lane.  V-1 continued through the intersection and struck the median on the East side of the intersection.  V-1 overturned to the left side and ejected the driver.  The driver struck his head on the roadway and came to rest in the Westbound lane of Diplomat Parkway.  V-1 came to rest in the inside East lane of Diplomat Parkway.

Due to injuries, the driver of V-1 was trauma alerted to a local hospital by ambulance.  At the hospital, the driver was determined to have suffered a severe head injury.  It was determined that the driver of V-1 WAS NOT wearing a helmet at the time of the traffic crash.

The driver is listed in stable condition in the ICU.  The next of kin has been notified.  This traffic crash IS alcohol/drug related.  MCI Satterlee and Forensics Specialist Lansky responded.
