(November 6, 2014)- Cape Coral Police responded to a serious injury crash around 2:00 AM in the 1000 block of Archer Parkway involving a motorcycle.
The investigation revealed that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a curve in the road. the motorcyclist left the roadway and was ejected from the bike.
The motorcyclist, identified as William Warren Lewis Jr., DOB 08/16/1989, of Cape Coral, suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was trauma-alerted to a nearby hospital.
Cape Coral Police Department Traffic Homicide Investigators and Forensics personnel responded to the crash. The crash appears to be alcohol and/or drug related at this time. The investigation is ongoing. The preliminary synopsis of the Traffic Homicide Investigator is below:
DATE: November 6, 2014
TIME: 01:56 a.m.
LOCATION: 1000 Archer Pkwy East
Vehicle 1: 2013 Kawasaki Ninja Motorcycle (Sport Style).
Driver 1: William Warren Lewis Jr., DOB 08/16/1989, of Cape Coral.
Injuries: Lewis suffered life threatening injuries as a result of the traffic crash.
Vehicle 2: a 2000 Ford F-250 truck. V2 was properly parked in the driveway of 1032 Archer Pkwy E. at the time of the traffic crash.
Vehicle 1 (V1) was traveling East on Archer Pkwy at the 1000 block in the Eastbound lane, negotiating a left curve in the road.
As V1 was driving, the driver of V1 was operating V1 at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate the left curve in the road. V1 then drove off of the roadway and into the yard of the residence located at 1028 Archer Pkwy. V1 continued to travel East until it overturned in the front yard of the residence. The driver of V1 was then totally ejected from V1. Both the driver and V1 continued to travel East, entering into the yard of the residence located at 1032 Archer Pkwy E., and crossing the driveway of the residence. Once V1 crossed driveway, it came to its final rest in the front yard, against the residence. As the driver of V1 crossed the driveway, he struck the front right bumper of V2 which was parked in the driveway. After striking V2, the driver of V1 continued to travel East until he came to his final rest in the front yard of the residence.
Lewis was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. As a result of the traffic crash, he suffered life threatening injuries and was trauma alerted to a local hospital by LCEMS.
Due to the nature of the injuries, Traffic Homicide Investigator N. Green responded to the scene along with Forensic Technician Fordham and VA Lucas. The next of kin for Lewis have been notified of the incident.
This traffic crash is alcohol or drug related. At this time, the case is pending further investigation.
