(December 22, 2014)- Cape Coral Police are investigating a shooting that occurred over the weekend that sent two people to the hospital.
At around 2:00 AM Sunday morning, Officers responded to a call of "shots heard" in the area of 1100 Cape Coral Parkway W. Multiple callers advised of hearing gunshots in the area.
As officers arrived, they were flagged down and led to a duplex at 4729 SW 11 Ct. There, officers found two subjects with gunshot wounds which were later determined to be non-life-threatening. According to the subjects on the scene, 4 masked men entered the screened in lanai of this duplex and an altercation ensued. During the altercation, numerous shots were fired.
Patrol, K9, and LCSO Aviation responded and set up a perimeter. Witnesses reported seeing subjects running westbound from the residence toward a nearby daycare. Police K9s tracked a scent that ended in the parking lot where tire marks were found.
Detectives and Forensics responded to the scenes. A search warrant has been served on the residence and detectives are continuing to work this case. Preliminary information in this case leads investigators to believe that this was not a random incident.
