(December 24, 2014)-  Cape Coral Police arrested the driver of a vehicle involved in a crash with a bicyclist in SW Cape Coral last night.

Cape Coral Police responded to a crash in the 2600 block of Surfside Boulevard just after 9:00 PM last night that was called in by an off-duty Cape Coral Police Officer who witnessed it.  The crash involved a silver truck which was traveling southbound on Surfside Boulevard that weaved into the bicycle lane, striking a bicyclist head-on.  The bicyclist was ejected and landed in the roadway.  The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital for medical attention for what were determined to be non-life-threatening injuries.

Cape Coral Police Department Major Crash Investigator responded and took over the investigation.  Following the crash investigation, the Major Crash Investigator transitioned to a DUI investigation, based on observations of the driver, Stefano R. Grilli.

Girl was placed under arrest for DUI at the scene and transported to the Cape Coral Police Department for booking.  During a search incident to arrest, 3 Oxycodone pills, 54 Hydrocodone pills, and 1 marijuana joint located on Grilli's person.  Grilli did not have a prescription for the medications  and was charged accordingly.  He was later transported to Lee County Jail.

ARRESTED:  Stefano R. Grilli, W/M, DOB: 12-01-1960, of 2909 SW 26th St., Cape Coral, FL.
CHARGES: DUI, DUI With Injury, DUI With Property Damage, Possession of a Controled Substance Without a Prescription (x2), Possession of Cannabis (under 20 grams)
