(December 8, 2014)- A single-vehicle crash at around 1:00 AM has left one person dead.  20year-old David Shultz III was driving southbound on Del Prado Boulevard when he lost control of his truck.  The truck left the roadway, striking a concrete pillar in a gas station parking lot and overturned.  Schultz was taken to a nearby hospital for his injuries where he was later pronounced dead.  The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

The preliminary Synopsis of the Major Crash Investigator is below:

VEHICLE 1 (V-1): A four-door Silver Toyota Tacoma Truck.
DRIVER 1 (D-1): David Valentine Schultz III, W/M, DOB 09/27/1994, of Cape Coral, Florida.
DRIVER 1 INJURIES: Schultz died as a result of the injuries he suffered in the traffic crash.

SYNOPSIS:  V-1 was traveling Southbound in the center lane of Del Prado Blvd S at the 300 block. As V-1 was traveling, V-1 moved from the center lane to the inside lane and struck the curb of the median. V-1 then crossed back into the center lane at which time,    V-1’s rear end began to spin clockwise and the driver lost control of V-1. V-1 continued to travel South on Del Prado Blvd, crossing all of the South lanes as it passed through the intersection of SE 4th St. V-1 then struck the curb on the Southwest corner of Del Prado Blvd and SE 4th St and entered into the parking lot of the Hess gas station located at 402 Del Prado Blvd. As V-1 entered into the parking lot, the frontend struck a concrete post causing V-1 spin clockwise. V-1’s front left side then struck another concrete post causing V-1 spin completely around so the frontend was facing East. V-1 then traveled South through the parking lot and rolled over to its right side. V-1 continued South until its roof struck a tree, causing V-1 to come to its final rest.

Schultz was extracted from V-1 by CCFD and transported by LCEMS to the a local hospital where he later died as a resulted of the injuries he suffered in the crash. 

The next of kin for David V. Schultz III have been notified. It is unknown at this time if the traffic crash is or is not alcohol/drug related.  Due to the severity of the traffic crash, MCI Ofc. N. Green, Forensics Specialist Lansky and V.A. Lucas responded to the scene.
