Argument Turns Violent; Results in Perimeter and Arrest
(April 21, 2014)- If you live in northwest Cape Coral, you probably saw a lot of police activity this weekend. Officers responded to 2829 NW 19 Avenue on a disturbance call. When officers arrived, the victim advised that guests of his home may have stolen items while staying there.
During a heated confrontation over the missing property, Koehn armed himself with a knife, and swung it at the home owner. Fortunately, the knife missed its intended target. During this confrontation, Koehn was disarmed by another person at the location.
As Officers arrived, Koehn fled the police, on foot, into the Zemel property. He then entered the Gator Slough, in an attempt to "out swim" Officers, to no avail. Undaunted, Koehn refused to surrender and attempted to hide under thick brush, partially submerged in water. A perimeter was held until K-9 units coordinated, entered, and made an apprehension in the brush.
Koehn’s backpack is missing, possibly in the water at his point of entry. Follow up to locate back pack & possibly charge for the theft to follow, so expect additional police activity in the Gator Slough area today.
ARRESTED: Arrested- Shawn M. Koehn, W/M, DOB: 02-25-1988, Homeless.
CHARGES: Aggravated Assault, Resisting an Officer Without Violence.
