NEWS RELEASE: Cape Coral Police SWAT Team Places 2nd at Regional SWAT Competition

(September 15, 2014)- On September 13th , 2014 the Cape Coral SWAT team competed in the 2014 “Region 6” SWAT Competition.  This competition is held every year with SWAT teams from the West coast of Florida competing. The following eleven teams competed in this year’s regional:

  • Ft Myers PD
  • Orlando PD
  • Cape Coral PD
  • Manatee County SO
  • Naples PD
  • Charlotte County SO
  • Sarasota PD
  • Lee County SO
  • Highlands County SO
  • Two teams from Sarasota County SO
  • Regional Team 6 (comprised of 1 member from each team)

This year’s competition was like no other; it was geared around and Eco-Run/Mud run 2 ½ hour course with scored high-risk scenarios which included: Amphibious Assault, Hostage Rescue, Vehicle Take-Down/Hostage Rescue, Search Warrant, Officer-Down, Land Navigation Course, culminating in a grueling Obstacle Course.

The Cape Coral SWAT team has been in the top three positions for 7 years in a row, with many of those being 1st place and 2nd place.  This year, your team placed 2nd at the “Region 6” SWAT Competition. Special thanks to the competitors:  Officer Adam Masino, Detective Michael Toleman, Officer Juan Munoz-Hoys, Officer Jeremy Niland, Officer Stephen Scrobe, Officer Cristian Munoz-Luna, Officer John Montgomery, and our regional stand-out, Officer Jeffrey Livingston.
