Cape Coral Police On Scene of Officer-Involved Crash

(September 18, 2014)- Cape Coral Police are on the scene of a traffic crash involving a pedestrian and an off-duty Officer in the 100 block of NE Pine Island Rd.

The crash occurred shortly after 9:00 PM when a pedestrian, crossing in the middle of Pine Island Road, was sideswiped by an unmarked Cape Coral Police car.

The pedestrian was transported for minor injuries.  Florida Highway Patrol is conducting the traffic crash investigation.  As is normal in all officer-involved crashes, an administrative review will be conducted by the Cape Coral Police Department Professional Standards Bureau to determine if the vehicle was being operated according to Department policy.

An additional release will be forthcoming once FHP concludes its investigation.
