(October 13, 2015)- A Fort Myers man who was apprehended following a frightening armed robbery in SW Cape Coral last summer has been sentenced to life in prison.
Justin Devon Diggs and Jonas T. Griffin were apprehended on June 18, 2014, after robbing the Family Dollar Store located at 2614 Skyline Blvd following a pursuit in which they crashed their car and fled on foot in the area of Santa Barbara Boulevard and Veterans Memorial Parkway. Griffin was caught near the intersection while Diggs fled into the neighborhood nearby. Diggs was located hiding in a pool box on the lanai of an occupied residence. Both were also charged with a June 10, 2014, armed robbery that occurred at a Dollar General Store located at 924 NE Pine Island Road.
Yesterday in court, Justin Devon Diggs was sentenced to life in prison as a Habitual Violent Felony Offender for the June 18, 2014, armed robbery. His co-defendant, was recently convicted as charged of: Robbery with a Firearm Aggravated Battery with a Firearm Aggravated Assault with a Firearm Fleeing and Eluding with Wanton Disregard, and is scheduled to be sentenced on October 26, 2015.
