(October 30, 2015)-  Cape Coral Police Detectives have made an arrest for attempted murder in an August 27, 2015, shooting.

Back on August 27th, Cape Coral Police responded to the Cape Coral Hospital ER in reference to two subjects admitted with gunshot wounds-one with non-life-threatening injuries, while the other was in critical condition.

Investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as Alec Rivero, 20, of Cape Coral, was known to the victims.  The victims, the suspect, and another subject spent time together in Miami before driving back together in one vehicle.  The victims fell asleep in the back seat on the way back.  The other subject was dropped off at a residence in North Fort Myers around 3:00 AM.

A short time later, one victim was awakened by Rivero rifling through his pockets and pointing a gun, threatening to kill him.  An altercation ensued and Rivero shot the victim multiple times.  The second victim woke up and found herself and the first victim covered in blood, and Rivero gone.  The second victim drove to Cape Coral Hospital.  At the hospital learned that she too had been shot.

Cape Coral Police Detectives spent the last several weeks gathering evidence from the vehicle, conducting interviews, and retracing the events of that night.  Detectives were able to gather sufficient evidence to establish probable cause for the arrest of Alec Rivero.  Cape Coral Police Street Crimes Officers located Rivero yesterday afternoon at 3203 NE 14th Pl., Cape Coral, FL, and took him into custody.  He was later transported to Lee County Jail.

Investigators determined that this incident was drug-related.  Investigation is ongoing and additional charges pending.

ARRESTED: Alec Royce Rivero, W/M, DOB: 01-09-1995, of 3203 NE 14th Pl., Cape Coral, FL.
