(October 7, 2015)- A dangerous criminal that resides in Cape Coral was taken off the streets. This was a follow up investigation by Investigative Services Bureau Major Crimes Detectives, Street Crimes, and Patrol Officers.
A home invasion robbery occurred on October 4th, 2015 located at 130 NE 23rd Place, Cape Coral. The victims of the robbery were tied up and held at gunpoint for over two terrifying hours as the suspects demanded money, firearms, and jewelry. The suspects were able to steal $1,800.00 in US currency. Suspects told the victim that they would call him at a later date and that he was to leave $50,000.00 in a duffel bag in his unlocked vehicle at the Walgreens Pharmacy, located at 6 Del Prado Boulevard North.
The suspects threatened the victims that they would harm their family members if they did not comply. Detectives were able to develop Christopher Gonzalez as one of the suspects. The next day Christopher Gonzalez phoned the victim and told him to leave the money in a duffel bag in the victims unlocked vehicle and not to involve the police or they would burn the victim’s house down. Surveillance was set up on the Walgreens Pharmacy for the entire day. Video showed Gonzalez entering the victim’s vehicle to retrieve the duffel bag. Cape Coral Street Crimes Units then approached Gonzalez and took him into custody. Gonzalez was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
