(November 10, 2015)-  The Cape Coral Police Department is partnering with the Harry Chapin Food Bank for the fifth year in a row to host the ‘Holiday Heroes Food Drive’.

There are many Cape Coral residents that rely on the Harry Chapin Food Bank for food every day, and many of those who receive help from the Harry Chapin Food Bank in Cape Coral are families with children.

Last year, the Cape Coral Police Department collected almost 2,500 pounds of food...OVER 1 TON! We would like to match that total this year or even beat it. This year’s ‘Holiday Heroes Food Drive’ will be held on Thursday, November 12th, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM, to ensure that the food bank receives plenty of food donations prior to Thanksgiving.

The Cape Coral Police Department will be at the Walmart Supercenter located at 1619 Del Prado Blvd., as well as the Walmart Neighborhood Market at 505 SW Pine Island Road (Kohl’s Shopping Center) collecting donations for the Harry Chapin Food Bank. There will be SWAT Team members on hand as well as Police K9 Officers, SWAT vehicles and police cars for display.

Members of the community can meet and greet with those who serve and protect our city. This is a great opportunity for kids to interact with Police Officers in a positive setting.
