(March 16, 2015)-  Cape Coral Police arrested a car burglar who was targeting unlocked cars along Del Prado Boulevard on Thursday morning.  The burglar didn’t count on one of the victims chasing hm to a nearby business.

Jonathan Romero, W/M, DOB: 2-17-1998, of 20 SE 17 Ave, Cape Coral, was arrested on 7 counts of Burglary, 1 count of Grand theft, 6 counts of Petit Theft, and 1 count of Resisting Without Violence.

Just before 10:00 AM, Officers responded to 1425 Viscaya Pkwy to the report of a vehicle burglar being chased by a victim.  Romero was located on the 2 floor in a doctor’s office trying to call someone for a ride and was taken into custody without incident. 

Three victims' vehicles were entered in the Cape Coral Hospital employee parking lot, another three at 1419 Viscaya Parkway, and a seventh at 1227 SE 8th Street.  Investigative Services Bureau Property Detectives responded to assist.

While being transported to the Lee County Jail/Juvenile Assessment center, Romero slipped his handcuffs and attempted to pull away.  He was secured and additionally charged with Resisting Without Violence.
