(May 29, 2015)-  A Cape Coral Man is in Lee County Jail after attacking his roommate with a box-cutter.

Last night around 7:30 PM, Cape Coral Police responded to a disturbance at 1630 SE 40 Terrace.  While en route, Officers were advised that the suspect cut another male at the residence with a knife and fled on foot.  A BOLO was issued for John Herrick, 54.

Investigation revealed that an intoxicated Herrick and his roommate got into an argument about a dirty towel in the bathroom at their residence.  The argument escalated to a physical fight, during which Herrick armed himself with a box cutter that fell out of his work belt while they were fighting.  Herrick began slashing his roommate's legs with box cutter when the tide of the fight turned against him.  Herrick then fled the home on foot.

Cape Coral Police Department, Cape Coral Fire Department , and LCEMS responded to the scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.  Herrick returned to the home when he saw the ambulance and was taken into custody.
