(June 15, 2015)-  Keen observation by on off-duty Deputy allowed Cape Coral Police Detectives  to arrest a group of auto burglars in a Cape Coral gated community this past weekend.

On Friday night, an off-duty LSCO Sergeant located a vehicle driving without headlights and saw several occupants exit with flashlights to either side of the street and then re-enter the vehicle in Sandoval.  The vehicle continued to drive without headlights and was stopped by the LCSO Sergeant.

Upon contact, a woman’s brown purse (none of the vehicle occupants were women) and cannabis were seen in plain view.  The Cape Coral Police Department was contacted to assist and  4th Platoon patrol Officers as well as Det. Coons from the Investigative Services Bureau took over the investigation.

Investigation revealed that the group was responsible for several auto burglaries in Sandoval, in the 2300 block of Embers Parkway W., and in the area of 2200 NW 22 Street.  All five suspects were taken into custody.  Additional charges are pending.
