(June 22, 2015)-  A Cape Coral man was arrested early Sunday morning after a marijuana grow operation was discovered at a house fire.

Lightning strikes caused by severe storms late Saturday night spawned several fires throughout the city and kept the Cape Coral Police and Fire Departments very busy over night.

One such call happened at around 9:10 PM Saturday night.  Cape Coral Police and Fire responded to a call of a house fire at 1613 SE 41 St.  The fire was contained by the Cape Coral Fire Department and as the house was being cleared, what appeared to be a marijuana grow house operation was discovered.  Cape Coral Police took over and began a narcotics investigation.  

Cape Coral Police Department Vice, Intelligence, and Narcotics (VIN) Detectives were notified and responded.  A search warrant was obtained and the marijuana plants were seized as evidence.  The warrant yielded fifteen marijuana plants discovered inside the residence, seven located in plastic buckets in the back yard, and a large suitcase packed with packaged marijuana.  Total weight of the seized marijuana was 8.5 pounds.

The homeowner, Jaroslav Kratky, 65, was taken into custody without incident.  He was charged with Production/Cultivation of Marijuana within 1000 ft. of Church or School, and Possession of Marijuana over 20 Grams.
