(June 29, 2015)-  A Cape Coral man is behind bars today after a wild ride in SE Cape Coral ended in a crash.

Yesterday afternoon, Cape Coral Police responded to the area of SE 24 Avenue and Viscaya Parkways after receiving multiple calls regarding a reckless driver.  The driver of the vehicle stuck a street sign, drove into a vacant lot, and got his truck stuck.  The driver then fled on foot.

Officers responded to the area and set up a perimeter.  LCSO aviation assisted as well.  Investigation revealed that the driver was Craig R. Banister, W/M, 10-08-1961, of 1719 NW 18th Terrace, Cape Coral, FL.  Banister was located in the 90 block of 900 SE 23rd Place and was taken into custody.  Banister currently has a suspended driver’s license with four (4) active suspensions.
