(June 5, 2015)-  Cape Coral Police Department is investigating a near drowning involving a toddler in Cape Coral.

At around 11:21 AM, Cape Coral Police Department and Cape Coral Fire Department  responded to a home near the intersection of Embers Parkway and Chiquita Boulevard N. A 2-year-old female had been found in the pool by her family. CPR was initiated by a family member, then by Cape Coral Police until the Fire Department and LCEMS arrived on scene to provide advanced life support. The child was unresponsive at the time of transport to Cape Coral Hospital.

In spite of the efforts of family members and first responders, the toddler remains in critical condition at the hospital.  Cape Coral Police Detectives, Forensics Personnel, and Victim Advocates responded to assist with the investigation.

No additional information is being released at this time, pending notification of all next-of-kin.
