(September 30, 2015)-  Cape Coral Police Detectives are investigating a case of animal abuse after tips poured in online.

Tips began flooding in to the Cape Coral Police Department late in the evening of September 27, 2015, after a series of videos depicting violence toward a dog that were posted to the popular social network, "Vine," went viral.  Tipsters also contacted Lee County Domestic Animal Services (LCDAS).

Since receiving the tips, the Cape Coral Police Department has been working closely with LCDAS.  On September 28, 2015, the originator of the videos was located at a home in north Cape Coral and three dogs have been removed from the home.

The investigation is ongoing and no additional information is available right now.  An update on this case will be provided once the case is concluded.

"We appreciate the outpouring of concern for this animal shown by the large number of tips sent in to us via capecops.com/tips.  Cape Coral Detectives and Lee County Animal Services personnel acted quickly on the information," Det. Sergeant Dana Coston, Cape Coral Police Department Public Affairs Officer.
